Woke up to ....

1 75% zipped olive egger
1 piped lavender wheaten project egg!!!!!

That 's all I can see right now to many fuzz butts in the way. As soon as this olive egger gets out of its shell I am going to pull the dry ones out.

Ok, here's my 'cute chick' entry.. Actually, it's not the best of the pics I took, but I like it because I was posing the chicks in front of a stuffed chick and this little blrw kept scooting under the wing of the stuffed chick like it was a hen!

Finally got it to scoot 'out' and stick it's little tush out.

Still nothing going on here.

Candled this morning and there's one chick still moving about. I'll leave it in there today and see what happens....

I do have three sources of eggs (one local) for more eggs that will go in as soon as this one expires, though. Honestly, I wasn't sure I wanted to do this again, but many thanks to ChickyChickyBaby for offering her eggs. That made me think there could be a chance! This has been pretty disappointing. A chick or two would have been a great highlight for a sick 2-year-old, a bored-from-Christmas-Vacation preschooler, and a husband hard at work on a chicken mansion in the yard.

featherz that is an adorable picture! They are so darned cute! Egg number 2 is getting down on zipping and got the egg that pipped first yesterday to get into gear. I guess it was just waiting for a "neighbor" to cheer it on. DH is just laughing at me since I have my nose just pressed against the bator! It was easy to walk away after a quick check and no pips, now not so much!

maybe it's a bit behind the others, give it some more time

Agreed.....give it more time my friend! Patience!

Thanks. I just logged on to say it pipped! I'm sitting next to it concocting my Craigslist ad for the chicks when I heard it break through. Nothing since then. Hopefully this one I don't have to extract from its shell like the last 4 to hatch. I think my humidity problems have been fixed though.

Where do you guys get rid of all these chicks at?

If I wanted to rehome them today (as day olds) I could probably rehome them in about an hour on craigslist. I can rehome day olds easily as there a bunch of chicken addicts around. I think I'll keep these this time and see how many roos I have to rehome. Now THAT's hard. I put ads up for roosters and get a lot of 'can you sell me hens' emails. They should be happy I don't do like some other CL sellers and tell them all the roos are hens!
