Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

OK just checking. I have 5 collected so far.....Might have a doz by wed...might. The ladies are really not liking this cold weather. BTW when I say EE they are really pure Ameraucanas just cross bred colors. So you can get purebreds or splits but you really won't know, unless there is red leakage. Here are the possible color combos, Black, Split Lavender, Lavender and they can also be carrying a wheaten gene so they will look like a brown red ameraucana (the lavs will have red leakage) but not have the correct genes for it. Not sure if I'll have any 1st generation olive eggers for you. They really aren't cooperating.

PM me your address.

It looks like I'm going to have extra Partridge Rock eggs just PM me

Ok, now I feel really bad. I was kidding that it was me (sorry it doesn't come across good in typed word) - I'm sure the person you're really collecting for will be absolutely thrilled to get these. If you can't find the original taker... I'm sure anyone on this thread (myself included) would take them.

Hi guys, I've been following this thread now and then thinking I am not going to join, but peer pressure makes me do otherwise. It has been about 30-60 degree here in Dallas. I can't collect the eggs until I get home from work late in the afternoon which is about 40-50 degree at that time. Would the eggs still OK to hatch. I know optimum temp to keep the eggs is about 55. Thanks.

I just collected my very FIRST GREEN EGG from one of (not sure which one) my EE pullets!!! Woohoo! So my question is, any reason that one shouldn't go in the bator? Since it's a first one? I think it would be pretty cool to put a 'first' in there, but if it's less likely to hatch, then maybe I won't.

Corgihouse the problem with setting pullet eggs is size. If it is large enough you should go for it.

ETA - DH just brought in an egg. I have another pullet laying! I am really hoping it is one of the Wyandottes since it is a good size pullet egg which means by the end of the week I might have an EE egg big enough to put in! Sooooo excited!

(also hoping that it is a Wyandotte since it is the wrong color for an Ameraucana which means that I was sold EE's instead of Am's

)

Put it in. If it hatches it hatches, if not at least you tried.

I feel the same way. We put all of our BLRW's first eggs in and got 2 gorgeous chickies out of 4 eggs. Doesn't hurt to try.

OK eggsperts, tell me this egg could have come from a Wyandotte. It is the first one we have gotten this color.

I have one other SLW laying (I know it is her because I caught her "in the act"

) but hers are darker brown.
