I just did the one. Afraid all of them would not have been able to balance well.
I may snap some more tomorrow when I take the tree down.....I tried to take a pic of one with my jingle bell wreath but it would not hold still

No kidding!!! I almost froze mine to death trying to get it to sit still in that measuring spoon.. I tried two different times.. The first time, poor little thing was shivering. I felt like an

... You know, sort of like those moms on TV that put their itty bitty kids through torture for beauty pagents.

I had DD holding them in her hands keeping them warm between photos today. Her hands are always warm

Keep a wet paper towel over the end, to keep moisture in. You'll just have to wait it out and see how it does. Probably not ready til morning, is my guess.

Okay, so put a wet towel around the opening away from the beak and leave it? Will it get out or do I finish the job in the morning?

and that is enough?

just kidding........I told DH I could find something to hatch and sell in the spring.....layers or something....he just shook his head at me and walked out to go to work......which I am translating to mean "do whatever kim, you will anyway...but you are not keeping them all"

which is funny considering I wanted something besides silkies......got some pairs - 2 SLW, 2 black tailed white japs, buff orpingtons, a mille fleur d'uccle roo, a jersey giant roo (it is really DD's), barred cochin bantams, 1 black cochin bantam, 1 goldlaced cochin bantam.
I mentioned selling the japs, the barred cochins, the BO roo,and possibly the pekin ducks and he said no.

I tried to decrease the number of breeds I have. I asked DH which ones ..... we started walking around the Ghetto Chicken Compound, and he says, "Not the Delawares, they are so friendly. No, not the Sussex, they are so nice. No, not the .......... " and on and on and on. I was finally able to sell the Buckeyes and the RIRs. YEAH, down by 2 breeds now!

I have done this before. Just leave moisture, keep the paper towel damp. In the morning I have peeled them out of shell, actually, but at least they have time to absorb the blood still in the membrane. I dunno ..... that's what I have done.

Me too . The nearest TJs for me would be Chicago or St Louis ; I'm not driving that far [ not saying I didn't think about it

] .

I'm thinking about the Chinese NY Hatch ......................... if that breeding pen goes back to laying ................................ if a few are fertile ................................ hmmmmmmmm .

I believe I messed up bad this morning . I had two unpipped eggs left when I pulled the plug . I figured they had pipped internally and drowned . I did a eggopsy a little bit ago and found two perfect chicks , never internally pipped , one with just a little bit of yolk still unabsorbed . I think I should have left the bator plugged in another day

That's what I was going to do, with 3 or 4 of them

I don't know if it was my boys' idea first or mine, but we took several with some week old chicks after we put up the tree. I think we had 3 at once. The chicks had fun climbing further into the tree, then coming out the bottom.

That's how my husband was.

Oh, but the goat was kid napped.

Get it??? KID napped??????

Ya well, someone stole the goat, so like a month later he showed at the poutry auction and grabbed up our grand daughter and said he was going to get her a new goat. He wasn't feeling well and took Makayla home with him and told me to go find her a goat with a baby.

About the time I walked into the livestock auction I get a call. FORGET THE GOAT!
