Ducks are more DD's thing than mine though.
We brooded her 4 mallards from TSC in the house in a dog crate. She would let them out, they followed her to bathroom and get in tub, then when she took them out they would waddle back and get back into the dog crate
Her runner follows her all over the yard. Loves to be picked up and put on her shoulder and for her to walk around with him up there. I am waiting on him to fly up to her shoulder one of these days.

There are 2 membranes. One on the shell, it will be crispy white colored. The other one is wrapped around the chick, and should be moist and have veins in it. That is the blood that you want the chick to absorb. If you see no blood, it is ready to hatch. If you see blood, the chick still needs to absorb that before hatching.

which is funny considering I wanted something besides silkies......got some pairs - 2 SLW, 2 black tailed white japs, buff orpingtons, a mille fleur d'uccle roo, a jersey giant roo (it is really DD's), barred cochin bantams, 1 black cochin bantam, 1 goldlaced cochin bantam.
I mentioned selling the japs, the barred cochins, the BO roo,and possibly the pekin ducks and he said no.
Trust me , I know what I'm talkin' about . He went to work happy 'cause now when all the guys start complaining about what they have to put up with from the wive/girlfriend [ hopefully not both in his case
] he has a story to tell .
No way could it be both wife & girlfriend ... he would be bonkers... he says I am enough of a handful without adding another dang woman to his life.
I think he doesn't much mention my chickens at work...unless he is talking to one of the guys that has layers. He wouldn't want anyone to think I flipped my lid...although he thinks that himself
He did tell the guy he went hunting with that I was home watching eggs hatch for a contest type of thing and that he thought I needed to put the 'bators up for awhile.
