Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

It's a daily activity for me.. But considering my last post, I should be cruising bator auctions. I have 3 dozen more eggs from my own pens waiting to go in.. This little squatter I have, doesn't want to give up the real estate..

Ms.FuzzyButts :

I couldn't stand it anymore since I haven't heard a peep in the last few hours. So, I candled very quickly and it is still moving.. Though it hasn't pipped at all. At this rate, I may have the first baby out of the shell for the Easter hatch...

And when it does finally hatch, it should already be crowing or laying eggs..

Wouldn't that be great??!! Just let them get to laying age in the egg. It would save so much on the feed bill!

ETA - for some reason I just picture her house with boxes of shipped eggs waiting to go into the bator and her bators melting from never getting to cool down between hatches!

I already figured out exactly how many miles to Trader Joe's... and then had the discussion with my wonderful boyfriend about the Easter Hatch. His response to getting TJ eggs: "why?"

My response would take way too long to type out here.

I want some (more) speckled sussex. And some really dark brown egg layers. And some more easter eggers. And some porcelain d'uccles.

Ok, she's out as much as I dared. From what I can tell, she's all feet; I may have to name her after my sister. Anyway, there was clear membrane so tight around her head, no wonder she couldn't get out. I've been trying to get a pic. Ah, light just went on.. pic taken. Will see if I can upload it. So, she is asleep, but breathing. Hopefully ok. Will try to upload a pic. Thank you all for your help!
