Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

Boy it took me 1/2 an hour to read from where I ended the last time I was on here.

I drove today to hinkic's house, about 80 miles, to get my Buff's (17) and she had 9 white Buff's so I had to get them, I didn't want them to feel left out. LOL My Buff's from FlashPointFarm is on the way. Now all I need is my new bator it said it was shipped out today and I should get it on Thursday. If not I'll get the old one out and use that until the new one comes.

I guess there will be a lot of people staying up on new years watching their bators.

Good luck everyone.

This is actually a really cool idea. Normally on a new year's eve - I do the same thing I do every night and sensibly go to bed early. This year I will hover in open-mouthed fascination over the incubator.

Maybe if you act like its spring it will get here sooner ? One batch to care for all winter is enough for me , but maybe if the Ameraucanas start laying towards the end of winter .....................................................

Ok I am officially in! My new bator should be here on the 9th, if not I will use the old one until new one gets here and transfer them over. I have 30 quail eggs coming in the mail so hopefully they will be here on time and in good shape.

If not I started saving some of my own chicken eggs just in case, they are silkie X lavendar ameraucana ( which makes a really cool looking bird if I do say so myself).

My DH doesn't notice. I was hiding 2 blue English Orps and when he "found" them, he thought they hatched with the others. (ummm, they're like twice the size and a different breed!) I should have let him go on thinking that.

ETA: I should add that it only works if they are not in "his" buildings. Hell hath no fury like intruding on the "man cave".

I can relate to that but my DH is a good sport and actually made a pen in 1 corner of the work garage so that we can have it for chickens(currently using it) or when we had foster puppies.... he does make teasing comments of course;) in fact he pretty much said that if the kids are showing birds for 4-H projects than them need to have ones that can be shown! He's into just as much as the rest of us! In fact 1 chick from our test hatch come out with a lot of gunk on it and DH helped wash it off so the chick could move.
