If I DON'T have a hundred eggs cooking there's something wrong...You should take my temp.

I think I only have 70 or so going right now...if you don't count the 40-odd Silver Sussex cooking for RevolutionMama...because her incubators are all full!! What the heck is wrong with all of us??!

We have 2 garages. One is attached and is heated. Last year I brooded chicks in there. NEVER again! It took me 2 days to clean all the dander and dust from all the tools and stuff.

SOOOOOO, the plan this year is to use the storage garage.

It has electricity. I cleaned it all out, and got rid of a ton of junk. I just hung up a tarp (ceiling to floor) to cover what is left in storage. NOW, I have the rest of the garage for brooding!

I have to get chickens out of 2 horse stalls or the horses will be living in mud so that cuts me back to 2 stalls......I was looking at my trailer that I haven't used for anything in 2 years 8 x 16 I think it might work for the turkeys.....it's a sickness turkeys can't go out for 12 to 16 weeks besides I only have 2 Ohio style brooders they work so great really cuts down on the cost......I can drive the trailer to the river which is dry (the rivers around here are underground) and fill the bottom with sand and I'm good to go.....

It must be a sickness ..... we all have the same symptoms .....

EVERYTHING we see can turn into a brooder..... or a pen ..... or a coop ..... or an incubator!

I may be not so different as you all . I was building a cabinet to set up to 240 with another 60 in the hatching tray . Then I got worried that my design wouldn't keep the hatching tray's humidity up , so I bought a Hovabator with a turning rack ................. figuring the turning tray could go in the formerly planned hatching tray and the Hovabator would be the hatcher . That would give me a 282 capacity for one hatch ; or up to 60 at a time for continuous hatching . I fell off the porch steps while carrying stuff out to work on the "bator and dislocated my pinkie finger's two bottom joints , slowing construction . Then my pullets started laying , and having the Hovabator empty was too much to bear so as soon as I had gathered 12 eggs they were cooking , plus two more laid 12 hrs later . Only 5 were fertile , three hatched , and then Mahonri had to go and start THE GREAT HATCH of 2011 . I was in the process of moving for the winter , so building of the 'bator was postponed , and I moved the Hovabator and racks here on the first trip . I think I've been bitten by the hatchin' bug
