Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

I wrote a fluffy little article about this hatch-off. You guys should all go on there and comment so we can keep it in front of the audience. The more backyard chickens are put in front of people as a reality, the more we can spread the addiction! One of the suburbs of KC just okayed chickens last week!! Woohoo!

The great New Year's Day hatch has begun!

These duck eggs are blue and I always have trouble seeing inside colored eggs.

So I guess the Raising Chickens for Dummies suggestion of candling on days 4, 7, 10, 14 and 17 is overkill? It's my first hatch so would candling that much kill anything? I promise to keep my pellet stove going with room temp above 68 during candling!
