Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

The experiene I had with flukers was pretty unreliable. The one I had was 4 degrees off, I checked it with 3 different digital spot check thermometers and they all read within .1degrees of each other and the flukers was 4+degrees lower than they read.

I candle at day 10 and day 18.

December 21 and December 29th-- Lockdown, or "Period" if you prefer.

Lordy, if we're going to start the debate on that terminology again, I'm suggesting 'confinement' like before it was acceptable for a pregnant woman to be out in the world when she was showing.

Day 18, we begin the 'confinement.'

I candle before setting to check for cracks etc... then candle at 18 days if I need room or I just let them all go to lockdown unless stinky.
I then let unhatched eggs sit for 3 days after last baby hatched. if still nothing I candle and/or float test.

Quail eggs are near impossible to see through so I float test everything if its late. I have been able to find those "late bloomers" and pop them back in the bator until they hatch. (Once had 1 that was near 6 days late?! think it was a cold spot in the bator)

I also do eggtopsies afterward and document the infertile/1week quitters/2week quitters/died in egg/deformed/etc.......
So I can tell if it was my incubator having issues, something I did, shipping scrabbles, etc

I guess I will jump on the bandwagon with pictures of the eggs in the incubator. The 3rd and 4th row over from the left are due New Years. The two on the far end of the fifth row from the left are also due new years. The others are due the 21 and 22 of this month. Will also have more going in tomorrow. Actually need to start other incubator back up since I have more eggs than I have room for in this incubator.
Here they are!
