Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

I've been collecting from my winter pen to set on the 14th too.. will have about 60 coturnix eggs of unknown mix since I toss all birds into one giant pen for winter.
White, Range, Dark Range, MGolds....... Gonna be a interested batch!

for all you quail hatchers collecting a bunch and for the hatch too .

SteveH, are you doing chicken eggs too?? And if so are you going to stick the quail eggs in with the chicken eggs in same incubator?

I am wishing I would of done this. I chose to not set any chicken eggs and waiting to start these quail eggs is killing me.

I am going to candle on Day four and recommend Mahonri do the same for the Icelandic's. They are white and it is very easy to see veining by Day 3 or 4. That way he can throw out the duds and make room for the keepers.

I'll do it on Wednesday... then I suppose we'll know better.

SWEET! So someone has decided to candle before day 18? So that means I can too, right? RIGHT? Like now? Would it be too early?
Ok I feel like a child.

Welcome to my world. That maxi pad is really helping keep my humidity up.

I didn't catch the post with the blue tube, but now I'm seeing visions of tampons stuffed in between the turner rows with the strings threaded up through the vents.

No room , I rearranged with the digital at the front of the turner where there is room and I see others put theirs . The old school is riding on top of the eggs ; it reacts quicker to temperature change and I will shoot for a little over 100 . It was running very stable before adding eggs , I know it takes forever to restabilize after having the top off , so I will not worry .

In the mean time , my half grown pup that knocked my competer over this morning and has been outside already to relieve himself , decided to go again in his crate shared with his mother . She, still being motherly , cleaned up the wee ............. which made her sick .
Having forgot to eat breakfast myself , I cleaned up the mess with nothing worse than a few gags [ along with the spilled water bowl and kibble bowl which now extended the mess onto the carpet . Febreeze is strong in the air right now , I've got a headache for some unknown reason , but think things will look better once I drink my second cup of coffe [ I'm running about a quart low on my normal coffee level ] and fix a bite to eat . All is well , or soon will be [ Or as I hope and pray anyway ] .

I am laughing, laughing and laughing. I have two little boys ages 4 and 5. They pull a lot of the same type stunts as your puppy. I just wish sometimes their mother would take care of the mess - then I remember that I am their mother.

I got out of a lot of cleaning up back when I was married and had little ones . Baby barfs ................. she says " I told you babies can't eat olives [ or bits of Slim JIm or whatever ] , you're cleaning it up this time . " ...................... I get nearly within arms reach of mess ........................ I barf . I retire to the bathroom to wash out mouth ....................... mess gone when I get back . I'm long ago divorced , I don't feed my dogs olives , but I still usully give them a half hour to see if the mess disappears when they get sick .

Just curious how come you had to remove the adopted babies? Not enuff room?

Yes, too many babies. I left her with 8. I figured she could handle that many. I pulled three out.

I'm doing chicken eggs only , just cheering for the QHs . I don't stack anything , just trying to learn how to operate a bator and doing nothing that complicates it .

Ok so I filled out the form but didn't see the breeds I set, so here's what they are...white ameraucana, w/bw ameraucana, splash marans, a few olive eggers and a few project pullet eggs to fill space. I also set turkey eggs the week before, but were set late (monday). Maybe they will hatch early with the other peeps. I crammed 30+ eggs in the Brinsea ECO.
