Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

Dang! I was outside with my camera for hours today. I ALMOST got a rooster crowing .... yeah, about 50 times ALMOST!

Light Sussex are really nice , I sure hope some make it for you .

What I'm most wanting are the crosses between CX [ Cornish meat hybrids ] with Ameraucana and EE pullets ; I think it more likely the Ameraucana over CX pullets will hatch though .

oh yes, I remember reading that you were off to purchase a couple of cornish roosters. Did you get them? And thanks for the positive thoughts. I have my fingers (and eyes) crossed.

I got them , but they're straight Dark Cornish from a breeder and have not been used yet . The ones in the bator for Mahonri's NY Hatch are crosses using those huge meaties most process at 7 weeks ; but mine are breeding age now and nearing 20 lbs .

I can't get any pics of mine til this rain stops and we have flash flood warnings through Wednesday afternoon. The entire valley is already flooded so badly our buses are having major issues. So no pics til this nonsense stops.

Nope, just a little retarded

Truthfully I have hatched out one bunch of eggs. I kind of get it but don't trust myself completely and tend to just stick them all back in the incubator because I don't trust my judgement.
And this hatch, most of the eggs I had shipped to me were busted up in transit - so I am desperately hoping these hatch - and desperately afraid they won't. Almost like I am afraid to check them and find out they are all scrambled.

I do that, too. I don't want to be disappointed more than once, y'know? I have never yet taken an egg out before the whole hatch is done and there are eggs left on day 25 or even 26.

Rathbone. I have an EE roo that you can have if you want to come get him.

He's pretty and he beat off a hawk attack last week. Mama was a Cinnamon Queen, Daddy is the SQ Blue Wheaten Ameraucana.

He's good at getting the lady's but I've yet to hear him crow. Pretty roo too.

I WISH!

Oh, regarding the Week#3 Crowing Rooster contest, it doesn't have to be your own, but it cannot be a "stock" photo found somewhere else. If you have a friend with roosters, that's acceptable. We just want it to be a rooster somebody actually knows. And old photos from archives of past beloved (or hated!) roosters will do, as well.

How 'bout that?

Deb, are you going to send that rain our way?

Our forecast says rain tomorrow and Wednesday, but the radar makes it look like it's going to head right from So. Cal towards Vegas and No. AZ.... and skip us!
