Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

LOL

I have a silkie I got for just that reason. What a dumb bird she is. She'll lay her eggs in the middle of the yard if she's out. Lays and takes off like a fluffy rocket.

I have 10 broodies if I could get one to do it.

you did it before I could ask you to do it.

I seriously can't keep up with this thread. Who said it would have 10,000 posts.... MAYBE!

That would be me.

Weelllp--- it is cold and rainy out. My desert chickens don't know what to do-- some of them were SOAKING wet, and apparently had no idea going in the coop would be a good idea. When I got home, I found my little MFDU roo dead: he wasn't wet, so maybe the cold?

RIP, Snowshoes.

Since it is supposed to SNOW tonight/tomorrow night, and my house tends to get 10 degrees lower than the rest of the valley, I caved and put up a heat lamp under the pop-up. Right over where the turkeys and the stupid chicks roost. Maybe it will dry them off.

Unfortunately, that means I need to go buy another heat lamp, since my big one one was sitting out in the rain, the little one is missing, and we have chicks due in a day or so.

Do you think Our Easter Hatch will get this crazy??

I may never get caught up before I have to go to bed.
I had a patient practically beg me to do a crown on him tomorrow so I have to work from 6:30AM to 5PM with only one small break. And now is when I need to have my face on the hovabator, continually adding WATER!

I'm just averaging my 3 hygrometers for the Hovabator and NO, I'm an id, and I didn't calibrate. One says 72, one says 65, one says 60. I hope I'm in the ball park, I really want those Halo eggs to hatch, heck I want ALL of them to hatch.

Before "lockdown" they were all within 5 points of one another... What did I do wrong????

Argh!

Thanks, guys-he was a favorite. We used to make suction cup noises when he ran. Maybe I should hatch a few MFDUs at Easter?

Oh Laree I'm sorry about Snowshoes. I hope you get your lamp situation figured out, but doesn't make losing him easier I know.

Mahonri I'm having humidity issues as well.

Got both bators at 101 now. I want to know what those with such great hatches use as a %age for humidity.

My nephew who works at St. Marks in SLC left very early with his wife and 4 kids to head for Phoenix for the holiday weekend. His dad made him promise he would go through Vegas... well he got just past Nephi and he said he practically had to just get the car to crawl through the blizzard from there to Cedar City... and then it was torrential rain all the way to Phoenix. Took them over 13 hours.

Bob...we got well over an inch here. My run is a sloppy mess. On the bright side, got 8 eggs and some VERY BLUE ones!!
Bluest eggs I've ever had laid in my coop. I HOPE THEY ARE FERTILE!.. and got TWO polish eggs. Happy day.
