This duckling appears to be folded in half. I can see it's eye, and it's foot was pushing out of the same hole.

That gives me hope. I now have the only MFC from Patti (onthespot) that is pipped! none of the others made it to lockdown unless I have Laree hatching them... but I think if she hatches those, she'll want them and that's OK!

I read an old poultry book .... really really old, like 1920 or something. They used to put the chicks in a dark box near the fire stove, covered for 2 or 3 days with nothing except a water fountain. Another thing they did, and some still do, is to separate the chicks by sexes as soon as known ..... to promote growth, as one sex pushes the other sex away from the feeders. Interesting, huh?

Still only one pip...tummy is very full had a great dinner with Mom and Dad now feeling a little tired, I'm going to take a quick nap so I can come back and ring in the New Year wiff ya'll.

I think my temps have been a little low since lockdown, seeing as I don't have any pips yet. Two of my thermo's say 98 and the cheapo says 99.5, so I am assuming the digital ones are right. Looks like I won't have any chicks until tomorrow.

DH is at the neighbors party. I was too stinkin' tired to go....plus I wanted to be here

He spent all day slow roasting one of our pigs for the party. The music is always
good there. Neighbor was the lead in a big blues band for many years. He made
lots of CD's and toured the world. Once he had kids he started teaching middle
school and became a chicken and pig farmer like us

. Every New Years he gets as
many of his original band members who can make the trip together along with some
good local guys, and puts on a bash.

Hmmmm....I think I'll just open the window and listen to see if they've gotten
cranked up yet. DH left me some pork loin slices....mmmmm.

It's taken me a while to catch up with you yackety yaks.

YAY, I have a Cochin pip! I have 6 Cochin eggs and only one has hatched, so I hope to get a few more.
