Ear infection need antibiotics. Croup can be relieved by turning on your shower full blast on hot and letting the bathroom fill with steam. Sit on the toilet with her, rocking, have some music, for about 30 minutes.
My now as of yesterday, 5 year old grand daughter has spent Christmas Eve or Christmas night in the ER the past 3 Christmas'. This year it was due to a double ear infection. She had been treated for one a few weeks ago, but not it's even worse. The first antibiotic was Amoxicillin. The new perscription (157 BUCKS!!!) just nuts, is Amox-Clav. If this doesn't work it looks like she'll be getting tubes. I hope not.
The meds weren't working fast enpough for Grandma, so I cut an onion in half, grilled in a skillet and wrapped it in a paper towel. Held the onion with the paper towel on her ear for 5 minutes and the pain stopped. For her couch I put cinnamon sticks in water and let it simmer, strained it and since she's older I added honey for a cinnamon tea. I think it's better to use a little sugar for younger one's since it's not supposed to be good for them until age 3. Cough is almost gone. I'm having a hard time getting her to take the meds. I've tried everything and she still spits it out, so these are my backups.
