I don't know what that cream colored chick is. I am thinking it's one of the 'colored egg' mutts.

Thanks. I just logged on to say it pipped! I'm sitting next to it concocting my Craigslist ad for the chicks when I heard it break through. Nothing since then. Hopefully this one I don't have to extract from its shell like the last 4 to hatch. I think my humidity problems have been fixed though.

Where do you guys get rid of all these chicks at?

we aren't supposed to keep them?

Find someone local to trade with, post on craigslist, we used to have a radio station that did a 'swap and shop' program 5 days a week - call in and offer them for sale with a price, chicken swaps....lots of ways

Been reading to get caught up.. and was just about to post that I still had no more pips.. But before doing so, I got up and looked one more time. Sometime between checking for pips and seeing none and getting caught up on this thread.............................................. I have a pip!!!!!!!!!!!

Wheew, I was so afraid I was going to have a lonely hatchling.. But I still don't get it. I set them all on December 11th at noon with everyone else. Temps and humidity have been spot on. This has got to be my 20th hatch atleast and never a problem like this... It just confuses me to no end!
Set 8
5 made it to lockdown
1 hatched Dec.31st
Currently 1 pip at 10:15 am on Jan 2nd..

My girls have come off strike and I have almost 2 dozen eggs waiting to go in... But this is making me second guess myself!!

on the pip!

Anytime something off or strange happens, I don't dwell on it. Just keep hatching. If it becomes an issue and happens several hatches in a row then I would worry about it.

Mahonri- one of your BLRW eggs is pipped!! Or more accurately, it blew the side of the egg off in one big crack! At least I think it is a BLRW. It is the fourth egg in the lockdown picture. Not one of mine. SO: perhaps your eggs are late bloomers? Someone here mentioned the older the egg, the longer it takes them to catch up?

ON ANOTHER NOTE: I with I remembered to take a lockdown pic EVERY time, because then I remember who hatched and who didn't.
