Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

Ok guys, I need some opinions. I have my last chick trying to hatch and he's been in the process for about 10-12 hours. It seemed to be going ok until the last hour. He's almost completely zipped but now he's lost a lot of momentum. He's not moving hardly at all and I'm hearing very little peeping. I have had such a bad hatch that I want to help him before it's too late. Should I help a little bit and see how he does. I'm really worried that he wont make it without help.

I love Thelma and Louie. They are stealth Ninja ducks, patrolling the yard at night.

I now know at least one of my two white calls is female, she QUACKED today.

For the Easter Hatch. They've limited that one for some reason.

Ok, let me ask this: Who is "they"? I am trying to wrap my brain around this one.

Mahonri. He posted earlier saying he'd limited the contest to 20-25 eggs or more in order to participate in the Easter Hatch.

I don't really understand it either.

I would. Read my previous post about steaming up the bathroom first then going in with the egg. Take off small pieces of the shell first then rip the membrane. See what's underneath. If it's still bloody/veiny, I covered in a damp washcloth (leaving the beak exposed to the air) and placed it back in the bator for a few more hours to absorb the blood. Then I repeated as needed until the blood was minimal, took off all the shell and membrane then slid the chick out.

Others will probably tell you not to intervene, but ...
