I usually run mine for a solid 48 as some of the super darkies are hard to hatch....

Is there a pity prize... Burnt biscuit or bumpersticker... ha ha

I just went through the ringer.... My turner failed to turn for the first few days.. made that discovery.. Despite that I only have to remove 2 eggs set... of the rest all went to day 21 and 17 would have hatched successfully for sure... I had 8 pips left and I had a power failure.. With all the babies still in the bator... I happened to be in the back room with a flashlight at time... I wrapped my bator with a quilt from the bed and found my keys... I went to my truck and started it... I woke my husband who went out to get the auxiliary power up and runnning... There was some gelled gas in the carburator so it took him 45 minutes to flush it and get us back in business.. The ordeal from start to finish took around an hour... In that time the bator full of pips dropped to 81 and the two zipps died...I suspect the others died... probably dried them out when I rescued the hatchies... I lost one hatchy to the stress and cold... It was the last to hatch... I did find that there in my batch of black coppers was a wheaton... My count stands at an astounding 14 an holding

Under the circumstances... I think we made out okay... I have 8 pips (probably dead) in the bator that is back and running... Since it was hard to stablilize in the first place...I doubt there is much chance that it will hatch... I was in the running for 90's percentile hatch.... EPIC FAIL... I guess it just wasn't meant to be.. I will post pix of the Hatch Day Hell survivors.

Please excuse the soiled towel... I just don't want to disturb them too much more till they warm up and relax some... See the little wheatie!!!
