Please explain how the cup trick works? Porcelain or what and how? thanks! anything on the bottom of the cup - like shavings? Thanks and love ya for all you are and I cannot every read all this thread!

Smaller than a 'coffee' cup, I lined it with paper towel. It worked. It can't lie down, it has to stand up and eventually it will try to get out of it like it does a shell. strengthens legs and feet.

I love this!!! Thanks so much for this tip! Brilliant!!!

Okay, wait a minute. I guess she got the umbilical detached now. But I'm afraid she's what you're calling "splay legged"????? she's standing and romping about, but her legs are NOT underneath her, rather out to the side.

Help???

If she is able to get up and around at all, it is probably not splay leg. It often takes a day for them to steady themselves on their legs. Look at the picture in that link .... is it like that?

ETA: Does it look like this?

I still have a hanger-on in the bator. The egg I piped that was still alive. Here's hoping it makes it!

Okay, done. She's not quite fluffed up, but is back in the 'bator to get warm and dry. It's very hard to do the bandaid because she has feathers on her legs. She's peeping and trying to move about and then sits and sleeps. Do I do anything else??

I'll get pics in a minute.

It's not quite that bad, no. Maybe she's just unsteady after being attached to the shell all night??? Should I take the bandaids offf? With it on she can at least get her legs underneath her.
