Allergic to chickens, I bet.

I did get a photo of the partially hatched chick, but will have to upload it later.

It may be shrink-wrapped TO the top half, but it's peeping and kicking, so I am not gonna mess with it right now. 'Cause, uhhhh.. I lifted the lid to the 'bator to take the half eggshell off, and it stuck, causing anguished peeping. Oops. Later, baby, I promise!

Thank you Steve for noticing. Yes, I am pleased to say the least. Just mourning the six left in the bator that for no apparent reason -didn't hatch. But still, very thankful! Sounds like you had a pretty good hatch rate too so I am happy for you. K

We really missed you participating even though we knew you'd be offline all weekend.

When I posted the Crowing Rooster Winner (MuranoFarms) I also made reference to your very first submission which you retracted, as having been an Honorable Nention - because I thought it was so clever.

You wanna share that photo again?

Just keep waiting. I would wait until tomorrow morning to candle again to see if they are still alive. I am going to try this again but I think I am going to wait until the Easter hatch before attempting again. Main thing I have learned is that I do need a spot check thermometer before attempting again. Goochgirl, there is hope just have to wait until they are ready to come out!

Now that's a nice silkie !
[ Sorry Silkie lovers , they're just not my type of chicken , though I've thought about getting some to be my broodies ]

Still hopeful.
2 out, 2 pips.
This thread has been great.but some things just make my head spin.
Talking about pipping eggs, putting them in water, taking eggs out to listen for sounds.......

I have been told all along keep busy and do not open the bater.....................
I guess everyone finds thier own methods and maybe there is not 1 perfect prescription.
Really wished I had worked more with my last batch.stillhurting over the loss.
Only because I feel responsible.
The humidity had dropped to 20when I returned home Christmas eve.
But, maybe I can learn from it and improve my skills.
I am putting fans in before I hatch again.
I have become aware that certain locations do not seem to hatch...............
Also.to Gooch, I think.......How long to wait on eggs.
I have had day 25 almost every hatch.
One in Sept. I didn't empty the bater on day 25.decided to wait until morning of the 26th so could take the eggs directly to the garbage can..
Sure enough, when I went to empty it....a beautiful little chick was looking up at me ..........

I just don't rush things now.
Your a great bunch of chicken friends.........

Hahahah, I got mine to use as broodies also. And fell in love with them. They really are great as broodies though. And guess what - that black meat? - tastes just like chicken!
