Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

Well my last chicks hatched last night my total is 1 Cuckoo Marans, 5 Barred Rocks, 3 Midget White turkeys and 18 Indian Rivers not bad for a bunch of pullets just laying for a month the BRs were shipped I was hoping for 50% but 5 out of 12 isn't bad for holiday shipping or the crazy weather we had going from Indian Summer to the Arctic...now we have all our rain for the year and our rainy season has just started

Try putting a mirror in the brooder with it.. Somewhere near the light so it can stay warm, just not too hot.. I have done it 2 different times so far, and it has worked like a charm. It may take a little while for it to figure it out. But once it notices its' reflection, he will think he has a buddy!! Hope this helps........

I have a lone chick from this hatch. And I am telling you this thing loves the stuffed animal I gave it. It cuddles with it, sits under it, sits on it. It only peeps when I leave the room. I have it in an old aquarium on my desk. It can see all the stuff going on and it seems to be happy as can be.

Did you see my pics of it on the stuffed monkey? I put it right under the heat lamp area so it is in a warm spot. Try it, it just might work.

OK I didn't make it to the auction today.

I went out to feed the crew and one of my dogs took 2 bites of food food and dropped! Been at the vet. She's still very weak, but they had me bring her home. Don't know why, because she can't even walk.

I just came home and I have another lav orp in the bator mostly dried off and the other egg that was cheeping this morning has pipped and it is looking like starting to zip!

I will update more later. Got to go do the chores. Looks like I will wind up with a 40% on those shipped eggs. Not bad for December and the USPS!
