I don't know about that one and I have almost no experience but I was very happy with the Brinsea Octagon Advance with the humidity pump. It was set it and forget it. The only thing that I think I had a problem with is not having an additional thermometer to verify temps. I am pretty sure the digital read out on temperature is for the top of the incubator and not down where the eggs are so I think this is the reason mine hatched late.
Thanks dsqard! I read up in the Brinsea and found it to be on sale for $399.00. Hmmmm.

That is the one I have, with the turner. I can't say it is the best one for a first timer, because this is just the second bator I have ever purchased. But I will say it is very user friendly and has been very stable on temps and for holding the humidty. I have an extra bator that my hubby built for me out of a styrofoam cooler. And it seems to be almost as good as the purchased ones!
Thanks for the feedback! I don't know if I'd trust myself to build one, not yet anyway. I think the stress of hatching will be bad enough without worrying about the quality of my work!
Next stop is an emu egg. Instead of worrying the humidity is low i have to find a way to make it lower. It makes me wonder since most other eggs have the same incubation temp and emu eggs have a temp of about 97F.

I once built one out of a card board box and an infra red lamp. It hatched some babies, but not as worry free as my Hova Bator for sure.
I've been contemplating building a 10 gallon tank hatcher for the next time i hatch quail. They get into all sorts of trouble in the bator when they hatch.
