Had I checked sooner, I probably would have made the trip! Oh well! I've still got another week or so before the second batch is due to hatch...if they don't and she's STILL insisting on sitting I'll try to catch a swap towards the end of the season....which reminds me...I'll go check the schedule!

I went to the Basket show/ Swap only to find out that my really nice Buff Orpington had some how aquired mites while she was there! I know this because None of my other chickens have them (Just got finished Checking) and the judge said that they were really new! Well I gotta get them cleared up in a week for skowhegan! Atleast I found out now! I had to separate her!

I sold 3 baby mice, 2 Silver Spangled Hamburg Cockerals, 2 Silver Spangled Hamburg Chicks, 1 Mix Rabbit, and 1 Guinea Pig!

I am gonna try and buy a male Teddy Bear Guinea Pig For my Blue Eyed White 1, I will buy or trade for a Lionhead Buck! PM Me

My Blue Swedish Needs to grow her feathers in so that she loses the white, and she should be good, my khaki needs to get his color tones in, and my roosters need to get better sickle feathers!

Had a fun day!

We also went to the basket show today. didn't do much in the way of sales on chickens but got some items that I make ordered (I do animal carvings on emu eggs and stained glass memorial stones). my son took grand champion in the jr show!! I'm very proud of him. just kicking myself for forgetting the camera at home.
hopefully someone will email me a picture.

Are the mites easy to see on the chickens? Ever since I had mites in the nest box, I've been looking for (and not finding) mites on the chickens. It seems like at least one of them must have them. I am sprinkling DE in all of their dusting areas now.
Would the mites cause them to lose feathers? I have 2 hens that are missing many feathers on the front of their necks. They look like they are turning into turkens! I assumed they were molting, but this will be their first yearly molt, and I don't know if it starts slowly or what it should look like. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Congratulations to your son, Hoppy. And do you have photos of animal carvings on emu eggs? That sounds interesting.
