I'll trade you the rooster that I held up in front of the fire and in a heating blanket cause it got stuck in the coop as a chick and almost died cause it couldn't get back to mom. He's now a large, healthy, happy pedophile.

I have a similar situation here. Broody-raised chick got attacked by other hens and suffered a large bloody gash. We gave broody and chick private quarters and nursed the chick back to health. We named him "Lucky" and became attached. He is a bit of a loner and somewhat skittish, after being raised alone by the hen, and then thrown in with 12 other chicks that came from the brooder. We can't part with him now, and have decided to replace our current rooster with Lucky. I hope he works out!

I got my first egg from the one of the chicks that I hatched in March!

The little weird colored one. The large egg is a blue-ish one from my EE hen. My normal light brown eggs in the background. I don't know what to call the color of my new egg. Neighbor's tween called it "puke green" is it olive? Is it a mutt like my birds? Yep.

I've been wondering this, since the dark brown eggs lighten during the lay cycle and so do the blues, but not really on the med browns, do the olive eggs lighten as well through the lay cycle?
