Interesting. I'm rolling breeding possibilities around in my head. My first generation will be bred from a EE roo over Dom, EE, RIR, BSL (pea comb), SLW, and RCBL. I've toyed with the option of creating an auto-sexing bird similar to the legbars, but Doms are auto-sexing anyway, and EE x Dom will produce BSL. There are so many exciting breeding options available! My little (not so little) EE roo is a nice boy, though his comb is a bit too big for my liking. It remains to be seen how he's doing in the fertility department. When I build my coop, I'm thinking of putting in a black out room for him!

This is what my leghorns look like. They look smaller and shorter than the previous pictures. I hope I did this right !

So I finally came back from my Vacation to find my poor chicken in worse shape than I had anticipated( from dog attack). All her beautifull black shiny feathers are gone from her backside leaving just the fuzzy butt ones. Even a lot of those are missing. She has tooth marks just below her tail . It looks clean and dry. She has been eating and drinking and pooping. I hosed her backside yesterday to help it stay s lean back there. She walks around like a little old lady. She lays herself down very gingerly . My husband thinks her wing is broken. Might be. She can't jump back up into the coop so I put up a ramp for her. I just figured out she can't hop up into the nest boxes either so... What does that mean? I hope she can still lay if she needs to. Maybe they don't after a big trauma?they all seem shocked. The two RIR are missing a lot more tail feathers . At least two of them are making a low gutteral noise that Ive never heard before. As I am sitting here by the coop the next door dog got loose again .
