Do you plan on bringing any birds to the swaps? I am eager to get my hands on some more EE's or Ameraucana's from you!

honestly, I don't think I will have time this year to go to any swaps. Dh and I are starting our own product line and need to start working on that. Between the kids, school for us, and work it is hard to find "extra" time.
Unfortunately my hens produced a heck of a lot more boys than girls last year. He had lots to cull in the fall that the broodys hatched. I haven't separated my breeds yet but if you want some chicks I can only do day olds(up to a few days) because of an issue I had last year. I will explain better in PM. I am not setting eggs until I get my breeder pens set up but if you have a bator I can hook you up with some ee eggs. I am only going to pen up my b/b/s ameraucana because I have 1 splash roo and will give him my 9 black hens and 2 splash hens. This will produce all blue and splash babies. I am not separating my blue wheaten roo because he is in charge of all my layer flock and I only would have 2 girls for him, so this would make good ee's and olive eggers. If you still want chicks in a couple of months let me know, I will hook you up.

Ducks are so funny. My muscovies hang out in the front yard/porch area instead of going back to the coop at night. They weathered the foot of snow fine. The other six ducks came out of the coop yesterday morning for some food and hung out the the muscovies all day. Then they plodded through the snow to coop last night. This morning they again made their way through the snow to the front yard. I tried to make a path for them to make it easier but none of them wanted to take the easy way. Instead they were bound and determined to waddle and plow their way through the snow especially where it had drifted. And who were the first two in line? The two call ducks. The saxonies and the pekin let the little guys go first.

Too cute! My chickens are too... chicken... to come out in this stuff... the ducks are in their little duck pool playing Titanic among the icebergs in there.

What kind of camera is that? I want to get one for my hatch on the 13th and have no idea what to get...Is that wireless? What does the camera itself hook-up to in the coop?

It's a Foscam IP camera. They're on amazon for about $80 each. You'll see 2-packs on there for these as well. Those may be the old model. I got the newer model on eBay for a little better price. New model has better IR and colors. I like it so far. It can do Ethernet or wireless. Just needs a standard outlet. Mine came with the long range antenna. There are some good apps for cams like this in the app store for iPad or iPhone. Pretty easy to setup and check in on the girls from anywhere. I'll be moving it to the chick brooder when the chicks come in.

FUN! I really want one. I'll have to do some research on it and see if that one will work as far away as it would be from our router. The coop is about 100 feet away with and shed in between the house and the coop. (Not sure if that makes a difference)..

My hens are now online. Check out my coop cam if you'd care to - http://75.69.16.48:8080/

This is a connection right into the IP camera. I'll be setting up a streaming channel sometime soon that won't require a login.
Well, I logged in and was surprised that I couldn't see anything, just black, but then I realized it is night time. :p. I'll have to check it out tomorrow.

Mine is over 100ft from the router. I am going to test cat5 wired to see which is better. It also has 2 way audio so you can hear them or talk to them. They look puzzled when they hear your voice and don't see you.

I just ordered blueberry bushes. I made a garden in the fall for them and placed my order. she asked if mid-april would be good.....umm, is it?
I haven't done a garden in a few years and can't remember when our last frost is.... can someone clue me in if this would be a good time to get these plants please...

Mid-April might be fine (especially this year when the frost is not so deep), but if you are offered a choice, I might pick the last week in April. We always plant peas around April 20, but our soil is very sandy and dries out quickly. I would love to have blueberry bushes. I like wild blueberries best, but it would be nice to have a few right in the yard. I tried to grow them years back, pushing zone 4 plants in zone 3, and they did not do well. The plants are still there, but now very overrun by weeds. I think we've changed to zone 4 now here, the way the past decade has gone. In fact, the magnolia that I babied and planted close on the south side of the house, has become a 2-story high monster. It is beautiful, but we need to do some serious pruning since it is smashing into the house.

I am so excited to post right now!!!! My husband and I just went to the new Tractor Supply in Windham and he bought me my very first incubator!!! WOOHOOOO!! Its a Little Giant still air incubator, and we didnt get the egg turners (yet), but I am SOOOO very excited! Now I just need to pick all over your lovey, knowledgable brains about how to hatch :) And I guess I will be trying to get some eggs soon too :)

On another note, we talked to the folks at that location and they are very interested in doing farm days there. They asked if I would be interesed in helping to organize, but in all honesty I dont feel like I am ready for that. So if anyone on here is interested in doing it, I have the contact info for the gentleman at the store who would be the contact person. Just pm if you want it.
