ONE chicken, are they crazy???? one chicken would be so lonely as they are a flock animal.
maybe you should let them know that at the meeting.

03-13-2012. If you live in Windham, Maine and you want to have chickens (legally) in areas zoned residential, please come to the Town Council meeting tonight at 7pm. The Land Use Ordinance Committee has recommended they NOT expand the areas allowing more than ONE chicken. But they have written very reasonable regulations to be adopted, if the Town Council decides to go ahead and expand the areas allowed to have chickens.

figures, same day as our poultry meeting (central maine bird fanciers meets in washington at the evening star grange hall meeting at 1:00 auction to follow- usually have some birds for auction. all items for the auction are dontated to benefit the club and help pay for the meeting hall. you can get some great deals on some nice quality birds.)

Wanted to let others know we are having a farm/swap day at Wilton tractor Supply this sunday if anyone wants to join us ! It's the 3rd sunday and the weather is supposed to be soooo nice we thought why not not sure about how the turn out will be with little advertiseing -- but a lot of traffic from people looking for birds and chicks all week -- sooo here's hopeing !!~~~ Tammy

very busy cleaning today and cooking new recipes. I made english muffin bread, quinoa salad (ok that's not new but one of my favorites), choc/banana ice cream - made with avocados of all things and you'd never know) all in all, a very productive day!

I'm trying to undertake this whole raising chickens thing. Mostly, I just want my own fresh eggs and my son loves animals and his birthday is coming up. I would like to buy some chicks from someone local, but am having a hard time finding anyone! I know the box stores will have them, but would rather keep it close to my community or surrounding areas. If anyone has them and is around the Augusta/Waterville/Belfast area, please let me know! I live in Palermo and am willing to travel 30 minutes in any direction. Breed is not important to me and I am looking for about 5 chicks hatched recently or will be hatched around the 24th. Thanks!

I will have chicks for Easter, but they won't be sexed. You might want to check out the swap threads for the TSC swaps. Maybe someone has some sexable chicks they'll be bringing.

I start craving weird foods when my bloodwork is off, this week I'm due for a check but really, I saw this huge avocado in the store, as big as a grapefruit and said, i can do something with that!! ice cream was very good but needed less banana. maybe I should have made it sugar free.
