Maine

if it said "chilling with my peeps" she doesn't own any chickens, just likes them (former co-worker). i think she might have a 2nd BYC sticker but I can't remember what it says
it was a maroon toyota forerunner I believe. I should have just walked into the store and started asking everyone if they loved chickens...!

ALso, does anyone go to the Litchfield fair? it's close to my house, and I go most years- This year I am entering a few things for judging- bread and butter pickles, and which ever of my veggies look nice at the time...

I only got three washed since the baby woke from her nap as I was dipping number three. I didn't do a salon job or anything, no condition or blow dry. I set them out in the sun to air dry. Thankfully they were small chickens but OH MY how much dirt can a chicken hide under their wings? One.. twoo.. tharee! Three pounds. They still smell a little funny but at least they aren't sticky anymore. I also clipped primaries for the first time. My friends who brought these up from the breeder had a dance practice at a mountain top park right after picking them up so the birds came along. Apparently one got out and was flying all over the mountain! With that story in mind I took out the scissors to keep myself from getting extra exercise on these 9 acres.

Our fox has not been seen or heard since devastating my dreams of FCBMs here in the spring. I believe my neighbors across the way took care of it that week. They were firing their guns awful early for anything else.

Just had guests leave. I spent the week baking and prep cooking and cleaning. They brought with them a shipment (they were the second leg of the journey) five new Orloffs for me. I have been excited to see these birds, as they come from a guy really dedicated to the breed, and I have never seen any others than mine outside of pix. Well, I opened these dog carriers and found the stinkiest birds ever!! My friend had put big pieces of watermelon in with these birds, who really had no room to go anywhere or do anything but roll around with the watermelon. OMGs!!! They were soaked and smelled horrible. I mean, hor-rib-ball. I felt a little bad for them. They are dry now but still pretty smelly. I am trying to prepare myself for cleaning chickens after I pick up the house and yard from having had these guests (9 of us here plus the baby, dog and poultry) and getting the kids ready for school Oh, what a Monday. I joked with Hoppy once I would never blow dry a chickens but. I might have misspoken.

Congrats on getting your new birds! Pictures? I had to clean my showgirl for the first time yesterday. I was hoping to wait because I truly felt (and still feel) pretty terrible, but she was covered in wet stinky diarrhea and it couldn't wait any longer. She didn't really enjoy the bath, but did good on my hand with my other hand splashing water up or using the hose sprayer on the sink. Afterwards she stood on a paper towel for about an hour on the counter drip drying. I stuck her up on the roost after that and haven't seen her yet. Hopefully the diarrhea is over and she's fluffed back up.

Would never put anything on that or anything else for that matter on a dog with sores, of course! We bathed them the next day as well, just because they were a little sticky. They tolerated everythilng well, and today are flea free. Yes, everyone must use common sense, even with natural remedies.

Sometimes we all need a bit of help with common sense. I know I do from time to time.

I just love that smooth khaki (slicky??) is that one of mine?
Quote: Yes it is Hoppy, the pics are from the eggs I got from you, the slicky, sizzles and paints I had ten hatch , they are so cute, I love em. need to know what to put with who when it comes to breeding, would the slicky be bred to a silkie and the curly sizzle what would I breed to ?
