The khaki and blue are beautiful!, Paulajon. What is a "sizzle and a "slickie"? They look like maybe a silkie cross? I'm so enjoying my little buff silkie pullet I got from Hoppy. We named her Pollyanna as she is just a bouncy little ray of sunshine. Nothing fazes her. They all like to scratch up small earthworms. but she was the only one that know how to deal with a night crawler (pecked it into edible pieces). My two silver Hambergs are looking beautiful and laying an egg a day since coming out of their molt (thanks, Tayfray). Yesterday I got the cutest little tan egg (pretty sure it was from the partridge Wyndotte bantam). Now, any day the EEs I got from Ashand vine should start with the blue eggs (can't wait!)

Thank You, a sizzle is a cross between a silkie and frizzle, so when bred they the can be smooth feathered, curly feathered and I have heard some can be fluffy like the silkies but with some curl. I am just learning so if I am not correct or anyone has anymore info please jump in. I just love em ! aww thats a good name Pollyanna, they are so much fun and very addicting lol. Chickens are so interesting so much more to them then what people think. I have quite a few dont even no the acurate count, silkies, sizzles, N.H. reds, copper marans, EEs.,silver laced wyandottes, black astrolorpes, columbian wyandottes, light brahmas, some mixed breed chicks, showgirls, redstars, lol dont think I left any out. It is so exciting waiting for the eggs specially the different colors.

Longgrove, the pullets you got from me were May babies so they won't be ready till Oct/Nov. They tend to start laying later than other breeds but once they do they are pretty reliable. Pics??

I think of chocolate as being darker, khahi is a ligher chocolate (one copy of the gene vs 2 copies- and there is recessive chocolate which these probably are not)
Um, yes, I am loving this one too. I want one just like it!!

Maybe I don't know my colors like I think but isn't this a chocolate not kacki? I know, hoppy, you know so much more than me but isn't kacki more like grey? It is in the polish. One pic looks chocolate and another kacki. What happened in the pics??

you'll need to contact the fair before you bring them. last yr they were paying $2 per bird to exhibit them vs having the exhibitor pay a $2 entry fee to show them. they were wanting to get more breeds for people to see and kind of get away from the actual show part of it.
Can I take chickens to the Common Ground Fair in Unity? Is that a good place to find homes for chickens? If I do, what should I bring etc.

nice!
So... pictures. Here are a few of the new birds. I got a few Russian Orloffs (spangled) and two Marloffs (MaranxOrloff).

Young Orloff Cockerel and RO pullet

Orloff chick and Marloff chick... both unsexed

I also got two more younger pullets but they aren't very camera friendly.

When I think of chocolate, I just think "YUMMMMMMMM!"

chocolate is my favorite food group.

mine too, I love this website I found chocolatecoveredkatie
she makes the best chocolate snacks and healthy too. most of the treats I now bring with me to the swaps come from her website. I made chocolate cake last night with califlower and it was really good, you'd never know it had califlower in it.

The darker the better! I have a chocolate Polish Cap here and she is darling. She was rather dark before I set her out to range and the sun bleached her. Her new feathers molt in and she looks like dark and milk chocolate now... with a dollop of cream on top. No wonder the Harrier is around so much! Actually, I lost two chicks (grrr) to it before finally catching sight of it and taking measures. I lost a splash and AmxOrloff. Down to three. Everyone is healthy though (where's that wood?) Still no good leads on a replacement Maran cockerel. These girls are really great. I didn't think I would honk for a chicken but one of them is totally going to get a name!
