I know this is off topic but am fairly certain someone with more chicken knowledge than me can answer this one! I have searched the threads to no avail... What does the "8+" or any number followed by the plus sign mean when people in the selling eggs forum describe their eggs as 12+, 8+,etc.? Can't be weight - holy eggs, batman! Circumference in centimeters? Help!

Hoppy, does Johnnys have a good retail store? We have gotten our seeds from them for a while now although I have ordered a few packets from pinetree. I think we might try going to the store sometime to see how it is. It is easy just to look in the catalog and place and online order. Maybe if I go with a list of item numbers that would make it easy.

We just got some silkie eggs. 18 +. We got 24. When a seller has eggs to sell they can't guarantee that their hens will lay those ++ eggs so it is not promised but likely that you will get those last fresh eggs. Or it could be marketing.

You get at least the number of eggs described, but if the chickens lay any more than that number, they will be included in your package as "free" eggs.

For example, I just bought 10+ eggs, and got 11 eggs shipped to me. My 6+ auctions that I won shipped me 6 eggs from one and 7 from the other.

I found this owl in our coop a few years ago. It was just kinda trying to find it's way out through the window. They only way in was the little chicken door.

I know that Johnnies has a display set up at Blue Seal in Bangor, certainly not as many varieties as in the catalogue, but enough to get you going. I'm sure other stores do the same, just have to call around... I'm sure Hoppie can give you the total scoop.
