Maine

I'm up here past Oxford. We will be having our last event in Oxford in August. That will be it for Lewiston & Oxford events. Also we are incorporating yard sale items. So its a free for all and a lot of fun! Cant wait to see what comes about from this latest event.

LOL @ Hudsonascarfan, I have a coworker who lives in Fort Fairfield who would agree with you. I officially in Kennebec County which around here is considered central Maine.
When the coworker and I meet in the middle for in person meetings we meet in Lincoln.

What brings you to Maine? I just checked out your photographs and drawings and they are beautiful! I'm an art teacher (and sometimes sculptor).

Feather lady: I also loved the photos of the kids with ducks!

Wondering if SCG ate an of those tasty-looking roosters yet?

Well its a long story. I have heard good things about the place from various people, but I got really interested in Maine when I read in a book somewhere that a Unicorn was spotted in a forest there. And thanks! I also planning to do some art work based around Maine too. Plus, I want to be in the USA with the rest of you BYCers. Its kinda lonely being in the UK.

I'm in the Western Foothills or just outside (20 miles) the White Mt. National Forrest where it spills over into Maine. Like someone once asked, who makes the rules up for where you are? I dunno !!!! Who does have a clue...

I am in Monmouth right now, but grew up in Norway, lived in Norway, Oxford and Waterford in the past. I loved Waterford but like where I am now a mile and a half down a dirt road with only two other neighbors below me, and 400 acres of woods behind me.

My family (on my mother's side) is from Vinalhaven and Isle au Haut. Arey, Coombs and Pellet are the surnames. I know several of them are buried there and I have wanted to take the trip to see if I could find the graves but trying to plan a day off to catch the ferry and explore the island has proven a bit difficult.

How cool! I know many Areys and a few Coombs, no Pellets.

I hear ya on the ferry issue... the story of my life. Just a trip to the feed store is an all-day ordeal with lots of planning, time, and $$$ needed.

And missed work.

If I hadn't gone and fallen in love with an island boy, I'd've been out of here ages ago! But I guess I'm here to stay.

Any idea what part of the state you are thinking about moving to when you decide to move? On the plus side you will at least know a few people before you get here even if it is via BYC and they are all a bunch of crazy chicken people.

My niece did the opposite move. She met someone on the internet who lives in Wales. After a couple years of emails and phone calls they finally met in person. A couple years and a few visits later they were married. She moved to Wales and was there only a few months when she and her husband came home for Christmas. When they went back there was an issue with the marriage visa and my niece was deported. She was underage and the authorities decided she had to be part of an arranged marriage and told her she wouldn't be allowed back into Great Britain for at least a year. One year later her appeal was heard and she was allowed to go back to Wales to be with her husband. Nice way to start a marriage but it will end up being a great story to tell the kids and grand kids.
