Maine

nope, no pumpkin.
my 2 favorite secret ingredients are beans (usually chick peas or black beans) and avacado. avacado in cookies makes them soft and fluffy (but a bit green in color)

and for those are going to say ewwww, don't knock it until you try it, most people have no idea they are in there.
Hoppy- I bet the avacado is great in cookies...fat=yum. On the same, but less healthy note, I have a recipe for chocolate cake that uses Mayo...everyone thinks it's going to be gross, but it's really yummy!

Hi Folks - some of you may know that I live in Temple, near Farmington......

Anyhow, I have some three month old Large Fowl Cochins for sale- three blue pullets, two splash pullets, one splash cockerel and a black that I'm not quite sure about yet

.

I'm going to list them on Craigs list, but I'd rather see them go to Mainers who know something about poultry.

I want $15 for the pullets and $10 for the cockerel. My flock is NPIP and tested each year.

Here's a picture of my hens.....

Joannie,

I'm interested in your Blue's and the Splash rooster. They are so beautiful and I'm in Belgrade so not far from Temple.

Mayo in cakes is an old trick and used to be pretty popular. If you think about it Mayo is just eggs and oil with some vinegar. Extra moist cakes!

WIDGET! YEY!!! Hope you get it.

Okay so bf finished the second pen. Now I can move a few birds and make my turkeys happier. Poor things. They were let out in the coop yesterday by themselves. Then all the birds came in and I thought it was fine... until ONE hen got dominant then the rooster got into it and then another hen! GAH. I put those three into a pen by themselves and everyone else was fine with the turkeys but it gets worse. My son went out to feed them this morning and he found the tom in the trash can! Picture round white turkey filling the bottom of the round can! Awww. Not sure how the cover came off but he must have tried to roost and fell in! It was so sad. My son, dear boy, gently laid the can down and the turkey walked the walk of shame out. lol

AshandVine - OMG poor little turkey...

I've had my bantams fly into the trash can before. I always do a head count to make sure everyone is where their supposed to be and my little lady was missing but the peeps and mournful chirps alerted me. Now I check the trash can first thing is one is MIA.

See? The turkeys are providing entertainment already!

Very entertaining animals. (nice avatar, by the way)

Thank you all. They were let out today. I was worried when one got flying quite high and far but she stopped. I felt badly. They headed straight for the barn and have managed to be in there most of the day. Each chicken they come across is a stranger and they do all the puffing and kicking and jumping and its just so sad. I think I have a very good group of birds at tolerating each other here so I don't know what has gotten into them. Other than the cockerels having their issues most everyone else is tolerant... until now. I wonder if its the snood?? It is very sweet to see the tom and hen working as a team though. Chickens don't do that. She has my respect already. Crossing my fingers for babies!

now you will have to change your tagline to say ...and turkeys

I had a fever recently, and I think it affected my brain in a strange way. I suddelnly find myself staring at photos of cream Brabanters. The birds with the poofy hairdos! I don't know what will happen this spring.
