How fussy are they at swaps about the chicks being six weeks to the day for individual sales? My current crop of anklebiters will be 5 weeks and 6 days at the Augusta swap..wondering if that's close enough for government work, or they'll still need to go in sixes?

But it always seems that folks want what I don't have.....

Guilty! lol I did hear great things about your birds though. I say again, "Congrats!"

IDK about anyone else but I either need to hibernate in a downy bed for the rest of this snowy spring or see some 40 degree days in a long row and soon. The chickens were so happy to be out in the dead grass the other day and it was so nice to see them there. I miss seeing them on green.

I'm on a lot of pseudoephedrine right now but it sounds like they'll be 1 day short? Sell them in singles if you please, but don't tell anyone they're 5 weeks, 6 days if they ask.

yeah double check your dates. They might be 6 weeks. right?......The best you can do is maybe acclimate your chicks to colder temps and educate your buyers on how to take care of them.

scramble them and put them in ice cube trays, once frozen pop them out and put them in a baggie in the freezer.

VioletBlueIvy, I don't like pickled eggs, but I have heard you can freeze them to use in baking later. I think you scramble them and put them in ziplock bags, but you'd have to do a search. You could feed some to the chickens, too!

My sick chicken is still alive. I hope to treat her tonight.

it probably would not be close enough since they need to be 8 weeks, not 6 weeks.

Not sure but I thought maybe a little sugar is added to keep the eggs looking good when they defrosted. I froze some unscrambled eggs before in a coffee can. They turned out really gross looking. Luckily they where intended for the pigs, they loved them.

I had heard that you should put a little salt in if you plan on using them for meal prep after thawing, and a little sugar if using them for baking after thawing. Something about helping eggs to maintain a good consistency after being thawed. I'm not sure of the amounts.
