[Windy Bay Farm]

I saw a post on craigslist listing free woodchips and shavings...many bags of them, needed to be picked up on a regular basis. I think the location was Portland. Next- I know this is a long shot, but does anyone think they might like to add a rooster to their flock?? Of the 3 chicks my broody hatched, I am 99% sure one is a boy- he's about 5 weeks old now. Welsummer x Marans. I suppose I'll attach a photo- he is the black one. Ok, one more- I thought this was sort of funny- here he is running across the lawn

I agree!!

I don't think there is any thing more funny than watching a chicken run across the lawn... or a bunch of chickens running across the lawn, or a bunch of chickens running across the lawn chasing the lead bird who has a tasty morsel.

My thought: there is no such thing, because if your chickens are outside on dirt, they will pick up worms.

I worm spring and fall.

What do you use? Guess since its fall I will need to do it. I only got them in Aug &Sept

If this is their first fall, I might wait until the spring if this is your first set of birds on the land. We have always had a lot of wild birds and turkeys here so I am sure they are continually picking up eggs and worms.

I plan to do a dose of Wazine and then two doses of albendazole in a couple weeks.

One of the 10 roos that I butchered on Saturday had a few (4 or 5) visible worms through the intestines. He was a young guy, born around May. The others didn't have any visible, but I'm sure still had a load.

This is only my opinion - some people wait until they see worms in the poo, but to me that means that they had a really high worm load.
