Maine

She's pretty high on the pecking order so she hasn't been picked on too much. She balked too on being picked up. I wrapped her in a towel to get her in. she's eaten another scrambled egg for dinner. I added a few drops of NutriDrench to the egg. She still hasn't drank any water but i'll move her to a bigger crate tomorrow with a chick watered. Maybe that will help.

That sounds like a good plan... good luck with her! It just seems so cruel to have them molting at this time of the year!

SCG, Are you hatching for yourself or are you selling chicks?

Hatching for myself, mostly. Adding a few layers (forgot to add white leghorns to the list) and some eye candy, and the boys for meat. If more than 20 hatch I'd likely be selling, but also unable to tell who is who at that point! If I get more girls, I'll likely be selling POL in the spring, as well.

I just stuck some fertile eggs from my neighbor under my broody! When I put the eggs under her, she kind of rocked back and forth pushing them further under herself. I don't have high hopes that this will work, but it will be interesting none the less!
