Maine

My girls will go out into their sun room (not going to be sunny today.) It's still not finished, I need to put up plastic on the north side, and on the south gable, as well as a fence to close off that bay of the run, and block them from going under the coop. At this point, I wish I had an other month of summer. But, I'm getting a few eggs now. Had a new player yesterday: little creamy brown pullet egg.

My three 11-week old cockerels (yes, my broody-raised eggs were 3 for 3 roos!) were in absolute shock at the snow. It was pretty funny to see them do an about face back into the coop. The hens typically don't go out unless I throw used shavings in the run or shovel it. The goats absolutely refuse to leave the barn with any amount of precipitation. Spoiled little creatures. :)

I finally have at least 3 hens laying again after 2.5 months of no eggs. Woo!

I second the throw used shavings (or hay if you want to be fancy) on the shoveled run area, and even some BOSS on top of it and I guarantee the snow-shyness will almost instantly melt.

My goats go out in anything, shoveled or not.

I ended up getting the run shoveled and use a rake to turn things up and added a layer of leaves I reserved, it got the girl's out long enough to get some fresh air before it was time to go in the night
