What a beautiful girl ! Now I have another chicken for my wish list

I'd offer you one of her chicks if/when they hatch, but they are only 1/2 maran chicks. She's a blue splash maran, but the eggs under her aren't hers they are 1/2 blue copper maran and 1/2 mutt. we'll see what I get. It's her first try.

I woke up this morning to chirping in the incubator

I have a dozen splash eggs from a fellow down south perking along in there....and there were three of my own that I rescued on one of those warm, weird days three weeks ago.

The chick who hatched last night looks like a buff, which means it's from the buff pair I got from Bob Hawes at the Farmington Fair!

My first buff chick of 2012!!!

Now that this chick is "dry", turns out it's a Porcelain d'Uccle and not even a Cochin!

Guess the d'Uccles can be really winter hardy and FERTILE!

Just applied some bag balm to my white leghorn's comb. This morning it looked a little white and dry on the back. Darn she's hard to catch.
