My Orpington and Marans hatching eggs are due today ! I am soooo excited. This is my first time using my incubator so I hope everything goes alright. I've had the temp set and steady for a couple of days now, so everything should be ok. If I have good hatch rates, maybe I'll bring some to a few of the swaps.

I would love to have some marans again, They are really nice birds! Hope you get a good turnout, my little giant incubator has been keeping a consistant temperature. I only have 13 eggs in it, but every single one of them are developing!!!

I am so bummed. I had about 16 eggs go into the hatcher and only have 4 chicks. I went and grabbed an LG at TSC to hatch in because I couldn't find my homemade bator that has a fan and electric thermostat. I will most definitely NOT be using it again. I am so unhappy. There was nothing wrong with these babies and all were moving great when they went in. I have 2 thermometers in there and the floor says 99.5 and the one on top of the eggs said 101. I have never used still air and would have bought the fan but they didn't have it. I had both vent holes open, which it says to do for hatching

. I didn't get a single lf gl polish out of the 8 eggs that went into the hatcher. I would have hatched in my brinsea but had set eggs from my jubilees...
I have 1 jubilee orp x cream legbar baby and if they can be color sexed then this one looks like a pullet. I then have 2 blue breda and 1 splash. I candled real quick and one breda still looks ok but everything else looks dead. I am so done with shipped eggs. I know it is not only the shipping as my own had difficulties and I need to put effort into finding my hatching bator soon....LG sucks, wish the stores would carry a better bator...

This is my fifth year incubating and took years to make the "perfect" incubator/hatcher (homemade) and am just so mad that I don't know where it got put....add insult to injury, my kids broke 2 wires on my ecoglows and none have the plug portion so the two I do have intact can't be used yet

Just got the confirmation from Cackle that my turkey poults and chicks have been shipped.

They should be here Wednesday if all goes well. I didn't want the 15 poult minimum that most hatcheries have so it was nice that I could get 6 turkeys and just add chicks to make up the difference. And since I wanted some reliable egg machines I added some Golden Comets (or Cinnamon Queens as a substitute). And I did break down and get some hatchery Salmon Faverolles since I still had room in the order without increasing the postage.

I've tried twice to hatch turkey eggs with no luck. Out of 24 midget white eggs none hatched. So this year I decided to just buy the poults. While I wanted the MW I could only get Bourbon Reds or similar (since I agreed to substitutes in needed). Of course I haven't had too much luck with adult turkeys either. I had a Midget White pair and the hen was taken by a bobcat. I saw the whole thing and couldn't do anything about it. This was in Feb. of 2011 when we had way too much snow on the ground. The hen got out of the pen and slid down the hill behind the house into deep snow. The bobcat was able to grab her and drag her off. Hated to lose her but at lest I know what happened.
