Maine

wet birds are good for one reason, it helps them to get the new feathers in faster. other then that, a wet chicken can be a chilled chicken so I don't care so much if mine stay in when it wet out. snow is another story, mine go out in the snow if I shovel a path for them.

My chickens were out in the rain. Soaked little buggers. The molting ones, like those without tails, look somewhere between pathetic and hilarious. Looks like I have three SFavorelle pullets. Its still a little early to tell but they are dimorphic and so far it looks like all girls.

that would be kind of scary if you think about it- I'd be thinking huge snake! and I'd be history.

Wonder what the UPS driver thought a couple minutes ago when he delivered my horse's supplements. It is already dark here and I didn't have the porch light on. My muscovy drake calls the porch home at night. Nothing like dropping a package off and having a duck hiss at you. Especially one that doesn't tend to move out of the way.

Well if it was my normal driver he knows all the critters. Normally he gets here around 3 or 4 but tonight he was late. If I had known the package was due today I would have left the light on.

I wake up 3 drakes and 2 girls each morning around 4:30. It sounds like a den full of rattlesnakes eating a quacking duck.

If I didn't know what it is, I'd have run for the hills. Your driver probably needs to change his pants.

I guess I've never heard a duck hiss! Interesting....

Hello from Falmouth! I am new to chickens this year but already have a flock of 40! I just love em all and find myself keeping all the roos :)
I have partnered with a friend in northern Maine and together we hope to build a beautiful flock of Salmon Faverolles. We also are working with a few other breeds for the fun of it but the Favs will be our specialty :)
Looking forward to meeting everyone!
Kim

Hey, you're here! I was wondering when you'd finally join up over here. :)

SCG/ash/widget - we need a hissing drake video!

Welcome. Where is your stock from? How long have you been working with Favs?
