Two of my chicks are growing much faster than the other two. I read that males grow slower. Any ideas of how many are males or females? What should I look for? When and how do I tell?

No one in these photos is showing blatant signs of being male, but this is not the best photo for gender assessment. How old are these birds, in weeks? Different breeds and crosses have different characteristics that can be evaluated at different ages. As for size discrepancy - that can be a matter of breed and even individual birds within the same breed - just as some people grow at different rates than others.

No obvious cockerels at  this point in time.  How old are they?

Thanks. What should I be looking for to tell? They are about 4 weeks old.

In the next couple of weeks take photos of each bird, showing it in a natural, standing position (taken in natural lighting - meaning no red tinge from heat lamp, not shadowed, etc) that shows the whole bird from the side. There are different characteristics that can be seen in different breeds at different stages with some being easier to sex earlier than others. Were you given a reported breed for each when you bought them?
