Make-shift tools to get the job done

I use mine on the end of a drill & it is effective. Seems like just shacking them off. I sell the fingers for $1 each + shipping. You can use these in the whizbang plucker also.

Wow, all really good stuff here

I'm wondering how large to make the diameter of the hole on my homemade cones. I don't want to cut it too large.

You can get the plan book, the fingers and some of the other parts from the guy who invented it. I don't have his website handy, and it's a cumbersome address, but if you seach "Whizbang Chicken Plucker" it should pop right up. It works undescribably well.

I used a old road cone for my chickens.....I had to modify it so they would fit but I ran into a problem with them falling out. I finally started knocking out the birds with a quick blow to the head, then stringing them up by their feet and dropping them down into the cone. The string kept them from falling out and by knocking them out their was a lot less struggling with the bird.

We ended up using a large liq. laundry detergent bottle for our cone, worked great but I think our hole is a bit too large... but so were our birds! Will hafta make a smaller cone to accommodate smaller birds.

Purple chicken had a few plans for smaller pluckers using bungee cords and pvc pipe with a drill. It was something really awsome.
Now stupid question, why do you use the lung scraper? I reach in, ungloved and snatch out the works all in one.
The next thing is that I'm impressed that someone else had broken wings, I always thought it was from being rough, but I pick up the meat bird, (sounds weird) Thank it for what it has done and will be doing (think its more for me) tie legs together with a cord, then chop and let it drop. All broken wings.
This year, TSC sells orange cones! yahoo.
Either way thanks for all the interesting and valuable information!
