Making a free-standing perch?

Do you have any advice for making a sturdy free-standing perch?
Peggy doesn't have a perch in his new temporary abode and the top is curved, so the perch can't really be attached to the structure itself.
Please keep in mind that I'm extremely un-handy, so any suggestions for easy-to-assemble perches would be greatly appreciated!

New2,,making a trip to your local lumber yard might be the first thing for you. First you will need a post,preferably one that is "treated" so it does not rot from water or bugs eating it such as termites. CCA stands for Copper arsenic and the post may have a slight blue-green tinge color to it in spots. Get a 4"x4" square post 6' long. Also get a bag of sakrete,or dry concrete that comes in a bag. They are either 45 or 90 lb bags,and from my post hole digging experience it will take 2/3 of a 90 lb. bag

U can then locate a spot in the center of the pen and then begin by digging a hole that needs to be 2 feet deep. Once the hole is dug, take your 6' post and set in the hole. Now get your bag of dry concrete and lay as close to the hole as possible,and then cut it open and begin pouring into the hole until its half full. Now stop and make sure your post is centered and standing upright looking at it from two directions. If it's leaning it's very easy to move to get it correct. Once done,then get some water,about a gallon and dump on the concrete in the hole. It should soak it right up. Now add more concrete until it's level with the surrounding dirt. Then slowly start pouring more water on the second dumping of sakrete until the water "stands" or quits soaking in. Now once again stand back and check your pole from two directions that it's still standing straight.

It will take one full 24 hr period for the sakrete to be set up hard. Once it is,you can then take an old 2"x4" or 2"x6" board you may have laying around thats about 4' long and then use 2-3 very long nails,or a few 3/8"x4" lag screws to secure the center of the perch board to the top of the post. If you scroll thru my old Pea Palace thread I'm sure you can see my perches inside the pens. Hope this helps?

you could make a tall saw horse you can buy bracket that are use for the legs of the aw horse so you could make them as tall as needed.

If the roost is outdoorswhere they get wet alot via rain,snow or even nmorning dew i would be leary of using treated wood years ago i was warned that wet treated wood can leach the chemical they are treated with and can could be toxic to people and animals alike, now mabe they have changed the recipe for treating wood and that will not happen but i would research it first

I'm really incompetent with this kind of thing.
@zazouse - this sounds more like something I could manage! But wouldn't something like this tip over when he jumps onto it?

No just nail a board across the bottom at ground level make sure they extend a foot beond the legs.
, this is something i could manage also i ain't good at wood working but i know how to build a saw horse with those brackets

You can do it,

or you could make a platform out of 3 pallets and 2 /4 foot boards, i will dig out a photo if you think saw horses are to hard but really making these are easy if you got a drill motor and a skill saw
