Making Friends, Meeting Peeps

Good; but it was more of a confirmation of what I’d put on the background check than an interview. Tonight I have an observation, which should (I’m told) help me determine if the job is for me (it’s police dispatch).
Wow, that sounds intense. Good luck.

So glad to meet you sean_wonder. Congratulations on your past accomplishment and new endeavors. I began college with an eye on education, specifically physical education; that was in the late 1970s. However, it took quite a bit of time (45yo) before I took college seriously and returned to end up with an English major and an Education minor, certified to teach English 6-12 and PE and Health K-12. Unfortunately at 58yo, after only teaching ten years, I was diagnosed with cancer, which became debilitating enough to knock me out of the workforce.

Today, I am a very happy chicken owner. Having chickens had been a desire of mine for forty years before it came to fruition. Between health battles, a dear friend of mine and I got together and repaired an old coop, gathered saved aluminum roofing from an outside porch, and placed a 10x10 dog pen under a shaded area of her yard. We shared responsibility for the three starter chickens we purchased, and so began our journey of learning and loving this new adventure.

The chickens are all at my home now because the coyotes, foxes, and raccoons are out in large numbers at her house. I have 9 total as of last evening when I took the only two survivors from her backyard. My limit and my goal was 6 chickens. My wonderful husband and I are figuring out how to add another 100 sq. ft. to our operation and have it not look like an afterthought. I do believe I have fallen prey to chicken math.
