Thank you. I was going to get some and dust them just in case my eye balls dont work so well.Permethrin has no egg or meat withdrawal to my knowledge.
Quote: I only use dust if they actually have them....
.......using any insecticide without need can cause resistance, then it might not work when you really do need it.
Plus any unnecessary exposure for you and them to the dust, you might want to wear a mask.
I didnt think about that... I keep checking those hens and I really dont see anything but scaring from the pin feathers being gone.. I didnt see mites last night and I did the paper towl trick. maybe its a mix of molt and over breeding... I looked at all the feather bases on the neck and vent and underbelly, where she still has feathers... except for a little poopy butt, I dont see anything.I only use dust if they actually have them....

One rooster to 8 hens.. he seems to favor the less aggressive though.. the two astrolorps and the giant with the issues.. the other girls dont have a bare spot. The pics showed the staff of the feathers and showed no sign of lice. Red mites would be what I would look for. What is your rooster to hen ratio? You may need to crate her until she heals, or crate the rooster(s).
Quote: You have to part the feathers way down to the skins around vent, head/neck and under wings to look for lice/mites/etc.
It's kinda of hard to do much easier if someone else holds the birds and you can use two hands to part feathers.
That's the oil gland, perfectly normal.did you guys really check out picture three with the weird thing sticking out of her tail?
