Thanks. I like to play around with genetics every now and then. I become a mad scientist and cross different breeds and play around and create new color patterns to try out on my birds with on side projects when I get bored. I play around with the chicken calculator to come up with the best color patterns to see witch of my birds to cross with each other. Those are my project birds. I keep them separate from my breeder birds.

a picture of one of my Saipan. I think it's a female. The only explanation I could come up with for why it kept flying up on my head. Hen pecked....lol

I'd really like to see some pictures of your experiments

I have culled out all the ones I did the past year. I have got one upcoming that I am going to do with one of my extra Malay stags as soon as the pullets get a little bigger. It will be a few generations on this project before my goals are reached. I will post pictures of it as it evolves.

I am going to try and raise as many as I can this year. Hopefully I will have quite a few for sale later in the year. I have several people right now wanting birds from me.

Can you ship to CA? If so I would love to get on the list of people who want birds in the coming year. Malays are one breed I have wanted for a long time and haven't been able to locate anywhere nearby.

I have just put the first 7 eggs in the incubator from my Malay pullet above. They are suppose to hatch on the 19th. I have been looking around on the internet and I have come to the conclusion that my birds are based on the dark or double laced color pattern. I was looking at some Malays from Germany and my birds match up with them color wise. That is why when I crossed my dark pattern male with my pyle female my male pyle stag came out laced because of the dark pattern gene. Don't you just love genetics! My pyle hen is raising 3>3 month old chicks right now. I have a young stag and 2 pullets in them. The stag is dark colored, one pullet pyle, the other one solid white. My birds carry recessive white gene.
