I hand-gather grains out of the fields of Kentucky and make them my own personal special blend.
Most days I spend hours gathering up local proteins such as grasshoppers and beetles and the like...
I offer free choice pasture and mineral water.
Once a year I take a journey to the ocean where I collect oysters and grind the shells for added calcium for the laying girls.
I really try hard to get them to eat a good balance of the macro-nutrients: carbohydrates, fat, and protein.....

Just kidding!! I feed crumbles. Whatever the feed store has, which here is Purina or DuMor.

Most of mine are in tractors, so they get lots of other yummies, but the caged ones get greens, veggies, fruits and treats.

(You can tell Im suppose to be doing my homework, because Im on here just being silly.... sigh... )

No one cares about your birthdays after 21... thats how it is here anyway, lol
My own Mother forgot to call me this year until my Grandmother reminded her late in the day.
I was like, "MOM! How could you forget?! I WAS the most important day of your life, right?" lol
You should totally send some more pics of those pens! I love them----super nice looking!

What about scratch? I know pellets must be way to big for the little guys to eat...I couldn't imagine them trying to swallow a pellet..lol

I give scratch grains as treats, and more in the winter. Just make sure they have grit, but they like it, its just not a balanced feed.

I'm going to pick up a trio on Thursday, plus an 8 week pullet and 2, 1 week(ish) old chicks! I can hardly contain myself!

Any advice for a soon to be Serama owner?

I have a bunch of chicks I hatched and I want to grow out, I know I need to sell some and this women wants to pick some up from me but how do you decied which ones go and which stay??? Its such a hard choice! I want to keep them all. But with my luck I would end up with all roosters and who needs that..lol Although I can handle a Serama roo over a Wyandotte rooster anyday!

Haha, I am already addicted.lol. I am going to buy small incubator for 10 eggs so I can control the hatching part of it.

They are a mid February hatch. And there are 2 cockerels and 4 pullets I can choose from. So I dont know quite what colors they are. I get to pick out which ones I want. Gah, I cant wait!

These are my first ones. I have had chickens before, but never Seramas. And it seemed like the Serama was the right breed for me!

I am getting the trio from PJs Seramas owned by Jack Payne. I dont know exactly what colors yet, but he said he had a good variety!
Haha, soon! Hopefully I can get them uploaded tomorrow afternoon. Yes, it is all charged up and ready to go!!
