There are people out there with booted serama....I didnt know the feathers would disappear if they were born with them. Never seen that happen, but thats just in my experience. I use to have some feather stubs pop up on a few of the chicks bred from the frizzles a couple of generations back, but I cull that, since Im going for clean legs. Ive never had one with full boots though..

^^^ Like Jessi said there is booted!!! This variety will be worked on and accepted like any other variety but of course it will be in the featherleg class at a show not SCCL. So it does pop up and usually if a chick is born with it it sticks around

You have the nicest birds, no wonder you kick butt at shows.

Is that one from Dianne? Or does she only do whites, not blacks? Im super excited to get a bird from her this year!!!
When are you coming around? Kelly and I miss hanging out with you, we were talking about you last night.

When is the next nearby show? Im thinking about plucking some rough tail feathers and getting ready for the fall shows.
How long until a bird can grow a full tail?

Maybe Ill pluck them all and get a fresh start. Being outdoors is hard on a tail... lol
Got any breeding projects happening? How are they going? Hope you are blessed with tons of awesome chicks...

and when you get too many, you know where I live.

Here is a picture of the booted chick that I have been talking about. I think the color is called a Wheaten Sport? After more inspection today there are even more little shafts showing on the feet. The feathers are staying just to the feet thus far, so I would assume that is would be a true booted serama?? It did come from two clean legged parents also pictured below. I cannot get a close up of the feathers as these chicks are just so darn small to begin with, they have toothpicks for legs, lol.

Wouldn't you know it would have to be on the chick that looks to have a nice short back and good stance too..

I bought my Serama trio this morning from Grandpa Jack (Pj's Seramas aka Jack Payne)!!
I am super happy with the three that I got. They have wonderful personalities and they love to be held. I have some pictures, but the computer I am on ( I am out of town right now, and wont get back to my house until Tuesday) doesnt have the correct slot for my camera's card. But I will try to give a discription on each one as best as I can.

And these are all 4 and a half months old.

Skipper (Cockeral): He is a tri-colorled speckle. White, black and coppery/gold. He looks very much like his daddy who is very beautiful. He loves his pullets and is very sweeet to them. Actually he is sitting in my lap right now, resting.

And he loves to strut his stuff. He is very proud and he likes to stand in his cage and just pose.

Ellie (Pullet): She is mostly dark brown, with light brown/gold feathers in her neck and chest. She is a tiny girl and she loves to be held. On the table, she is a bit shy, but once you start stroking her neck, she stands up tall and puffs out that chest of hers. And she has a very big chest! She also has a nice back length to her and she has a heck of a pedigree. Her parents are amazing!

Doodle (Pullet): She is a very pretty chocolate brown with just a hint of gold in her neck feathers. She is a show girl! She loves the table and she likes to show off. She has a big chest and she has a beautiful tail. She is super sweet and likes to put her head under Skipper's feathers. I think she is going to be a good show bird.

Overall, I am super happy with the three. If you want some really nice Serama, head to Grandpa Jack's place. He is a very nice man, and he makes amazing show transport boxes. He knows his stuff and is very honest about his birds. He will lead you in the right direction. He helped me with the hens I picked out and how they would match up well with Skipper. I will be going back in the future!

I will get pictures on here as soon as I can on Tuesday.
