We have to have our blacks completed before the lavender Serama can be worked on! I think outcrossing may have to be done to get the gene in just like every other breed. Id say it wont be long though

Good question. I haven't seen every Serama in the world, but I also haven't come across a lavender. Not sure it's in there. I've seen some very even- colored blues, but no lavs yet.

I'm sure it's there, it just hasn't been 'found' yet

I am working on blues as well...I'd like to have blue smooths, frizzleds, and silkieds, that's my goal. And chocolates. In all three varieties.

What, when pigs fly, you say?!?

You're not going to get Lavender with Blues. Blue, Black and Splash are connected genetically but you can't get Lavender that way. There are totally different genes responsible. If there is no Lavender gene in the Serama's then the only way it would come in would be to bring it in through another breed. It could be there, just not possible with the blues.
Self blue is not Lavender

I have several F2 chicks (grandchicks) from the line. They are various forms of blue...also a splash, and some I believe to be lavendar. They are still young, but I will post photos of them later to get your opinions of what they are...I'm off work now, so its TIME TO GO HOME...I'll be back tomarrow.

self blue is lavender, andalusion blue don't breed true you get blue black and splash. but self blue also called lavender does breed true you get 100% blue that is why it is called self blue. and yes lavender in Serama is being worked on as well as the other blue which gives b,b,s
