Well, I'm old and if I had money you could say I was exocentric but I don't, so you can just call me crazy...lolol....I live with two brat dogs that fortunately don't mind the chickens being in my living room. The man that's going to build my coop and pens hasn't been able to even start them, so they'll be in here until spring. Other than everything being covered with dust and feathers while they were molting, I kinda like them being where I can keep a close eye on them. I'm now thinking about making part of my deck into a room to keep them in during the winter.
There will always be some of the breeders that will be breeding for type but not for color and some both. I'm like you I like the surprise colors you can get but I can also understand the necessity for standardizing some colors too.

I'll try and get some more pics of them tomorrow. I don't have a scale yet (keep forgeting to get one). They're still young but I think they'll be a B size except maybe BO, he's the runt of the bunch.
Right now leg color is not a defect but when the Serama are accepted by ABA/APA the leg color's should be yellow, swarthy yellow will be accepted in some cases. You'll want red ear lobes also.
I don't think you can see it in the pics but one of the chicks I hatched has olive legs also. If her type turns out to be good, I'll still use her for breeding because that can be bred out.
You can go to the SCNA site and check out their forum where they have a lot of information and a great bunch of people working together with the Seramas. Serama Council Of North America
That little girl will not stand up for anything! I'm sure it doesn't help that her wings are twice as long as the rest of her, but come on already! They are very shy, wish I had a guinea pig or rabbit cage I could put them in, I'd move them right beside the computer
And of course, if you are walking by the cage with no camera they will be doing something SO cute, just to spite ya.
but we love em anyways....

She's a cute little gal and I'll bet she's as sweet as she is cute. I love the personality these birds have and the way they seem to crave attention from people.
