She's a cute little gal and I'll bet she's as sweet as she is cute. I love the personality these birds have and the way they seem to crave attention from people.

Thanks. She does

Lol. Sometimes when I come in,she jumps up in the air and wants to snuggle up with me.

It makes it very hard to get pics when they keep trying to come to you.

I swear they try talking to you. I had a little red hen that would talk the whole time you held her and would answer to her name which described her..Sweetie!! Unfortunately I lost her shortly after these pics were taken. I still miss her...it's amazing how easy you can get so attached to these little birds.

Here's a pic of her. I had to keep moving her back but never did get a good pic of her. You can see my hand in this pic before it was cropped....it isn't easy taking pics with one hand especially when you have RA in both hands.

Thanks, my other hens are sweet too but she was the only one who would talk to you the whole time you held her or called her name.

These pics aren't very good of her. She was a lot more vertical but refused to stand tall for her pics.
It was the only name that fit her...lolol...Is your Sweetie a talker too? I'd love to see some pics of her.

I was convinced the oldest 2 serama eggs in the incubator weren't going to hatch, but I got a new year's day surprise!

I got a black cock and a chocolate pullet from Jerry several weeks ago, and this is their first baby! Plenty more in the incubator...

The olive egger chick seems so huge in comparison!

Oh my, those are cute chicks...and the size difference!! I only had Seramas hatch so didn't have anything to compare their size...tiny little ones aren't they!! Good luck on your eggs in the incubator and looking forward to seeing those too.

Thanks! They've been laying well, so I'm keeping the incubator full. Actually, I'm getting the Brinsea Ova Easy 190 this week! I should be able to fit LOTS of eggs in there! I've been setting every week, so I should have a steady stream of chicks for a while now. It's spring already, right?

Well, it wont be long until spring but I'd start working on a very large brooder now. Even if I had the Brinsea I wouldn't be able to fill it. I only have one Serama hen laying at the moment, so I'm just getting an egg every other day. I've tried the chicken and dumpling discussion but they just laugh knowing they really aren't big enough to make anything tasty to eat.

All these beautiful birds

I had a question about Jerry's seramas, I see some that stand very strait but all of the ones I see from Jerry do not get that strait look. Aren't they supposed to be straighter?

Thanks

I'm kinda new with Seramas but I'll try and answer your question. Jerry hatches a lot of birds and gives a lot of birds away that he considers too good to kill...or as he would put it "feed them to the gators"...lolol
These birds are carrying the same genes as all his birds and some people get their start breeding those, cull heavy and breed the best to the best to improve them. As for the standing straight, that's one of the things everyone breeds for. It's a natural pose but they're also worked with and trained to hold that pose for showing tabletop.
The little red hen I had could stand up straight but wouldn't while I was taking the photos..lolol...That happens a lot, so that's another reason you may not be seeing them stand up straight.

There always seems to be more cockerels hatch than pullets and you can get some very good cockerels from him just for the cost of shipping. He has some project cockerels now I wish I could get....blue, barred , crele, cuckoo, combos.
Check out the forum on SCNA. It has a lot of information and you can see pics of pet and show Seramas.
