With the genetics on these little ones.... it's back there somewhere...

Looks like she does have a few black ones, 2 or 3 from her pics. But the genetics are all messed up on these little guys! That's why several serama breeders are working on standardizing colors, looks like I'll be working on black and mottleds. A friend has some recessive sex-linked chocolate hens too, so I'm going to work with him on those as well. Plus he's got a few mottled silkied youngsters, oh what fun we'll have!

This little one (yellow) is the 'brown' one in the above pics, if that's any indication of their changes! At least I've got one little hen that seems to have the same coloring, though I have no idea what color it would be. Here he is at 3 weeks:

And again at 8 weeks:

Seramas are WORSE than a box of chocolates! The chocolate candies stay the same from the time you open the box, until the time you eat them...Not so with seramas - they change weekly! You never know what you'll finally end up with!

Thanks, I am really enjoying them. Juliette has some very nice birds...healthy, beautiful and very friendly.

Thanks so much for the compliments, Sandy! I'll post pics of Bo's and Fritz's brothers this week...Looking at the pics of Fritz, I'm starting to think I shouldn't have let him go! LOL
And Mr. Bojangles certainly fits his name...I'd like to see him "dance" on the table!

The three that I hatched out were like you're yellow one. The cockerel came out of the shell with a comb and full of attitude...lolol...It was the other two I wasn't sure of. They're all different shades of brown with the cockerel being the darkest.

Here's pics I took of their parents when I first got them from Jerry.

I'd love to see some of their siblings. I'm so glad you didn't decide to keep Fritz or Bo. Mr. Bo has decided he'd much rather visit the hens than dance on a table..lolol...we've had a few discussions about that but he usually wins or I should say flys.

Wish I had a" warm room" set-up so I could get into these fun little birds! I think the hens are as pretty as the males, they come in such a variety! I hope the breeders don't end up setting color standards in this breed like they have the Americannas and other multi colored breeds. The variety is what makes them such eye candy!

can you post Bo and Fritz next to something so I can get an idea of their size? And how much do they weigh?LOve those 2.Another question I have a little brown colored pullet with olive colored legs is that a fault
